Love God Intelligently

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another  Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you wand will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. John 14:15-18 NKJV

What is of loving God? It's a bit absurd especially when we're not uplifted and don't feel at all of loving God. This is a serious problem for many Christians. They wanted to feel first something encouraging and fantastic on God and then they think that it could be possible to love God. No, it's exactly opposite. Understand first of the love of God. Use your intelligence and thinking power to digest what kind of love you have received from God the Father in heaven. John says in his epistle, "We love because he first loved us." (1 John 4:19) Paul say in his epistle to the Romans, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

When we're assured of His love, our hearts are filled with His love, joy, and peace and we can obey His words. Loving God should not be expressed in words only but be accompanied by deeds as well. It has fully and completely been demonstrated through the Son Jesus Christ. Without deeds, it's not true love at all, only fake. "If someone says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?" (1 John 4:20)

The possibility of loving God lies on not ourselves but the Holy Spirit within. If we are truly born of God and became members of God's family, then we received the Spirit from God, the Spirit of truth. The worldly people cannot receive Him because they don't understand this truth at all. Notice that the Spirit is called the Spirit of truth. He reveals the true reality because He knows the mind of God. That truth the Spirit teaches and reveals we humans are desperately in want. So, when we're guarded and guided by the Spirit, we can know the truth that sets us free. He is the Helper, the Comforter, the Advocate, and the Counselor.

Jesus continues to say and don't miss it. "The Spirit never leaves you orphans." This is addressed to the eleven disciples in the Upper Room during the Passover Fest and to us as well. The moment we received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior was the time for the Spirit to come in our hearts and stays forever.
