Knowing and Doing

"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:2-8 NKJV

When trials come at you, count it all joy, that is, consider it as gift from God. It's the testing of your faith which would produce patience. It forces your life of faith to manifest and demonstrate its real colors. They are God-given opportunities to display the power of faith in the midst of pressures. But do not try to get out of it prematurely, but let patience do its work perfectly and completely. Do not be anxious to be over nor overrun patience but stay under until it go through.

Who doesn't know that trials are not pleasant at all? Nevertheless, you know something that it produce perseverance. This is called knowledge. You learned something. For example, Jesus says His disciples, "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Matthew 5:11-12 NKJV) When you are reviled and persecuted, you can rejoice and exceedingly glad, not because it is pleasant, but because you know [learned something] that great is your reward in heaven.

Knowledge helps but there is another in want. Wisdom! Knowledge is truth known. Whereas, wisdom is truth manifest through obedience. God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ gives all lavishly and without reproach (remember this, without reproach!) if you ask. Thus, believe that He is able to deliver you from all circumstances because He Himself is the source of power for you to obey. There is a warning though. Don't miss it! If you doubt, you will not get what you ask for. Such a man is double-minded and unstable in all his ways.
