Come to the Waters (Isaiah 55:1)

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts,
Come to the waters;
And you who have no money,
Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.” (Isaiah 55:1 NKJV)

How does God reach out the world which is under darkness and confusion? In love, not in judgment, God stretches out His hand to the fallen race all day long to come to Him.

God offers us though not deserved the best and the choice in life, love, joy, and peace, to take abundantly. He knows what we really need the uttermost. We were in complete darkness and blindness. There is a great chasm between the Holy God and the race. No one, not a single one could stand before the Lord of hosts without paying the price of life. All went astray and knew not the way back to life. All lied under the bondage of sin and death. All complained and cursed the Almighty in ignorance and witlessness. There was no hope but futility, frustration, despair, guilt, shame, and eventually death. All were groaning constantly under the monstrous power of the devil.

In the sheer darkness and hopelessness, God sent us the deliverer and the mediator on the earth in the likeness of man. He is Christ the Lord. He did not come to judge but to deliver us out of the bondage and chains of slavery and to lead into the marvelous light of the world. When we were completely powerless and dead in sin and most of all the enemies of God, He let Christ die on the cross of Calvary.

“Who has believed our report?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of dry ground.
He has no form or comeliness;
And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.
He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:1-5 NKJV)

That’s how the Lord God Almighty approached the sinners like us, so that all people on earth may have life abundantly in Christ. “…but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” (John 20:31 NKJV)
