Let the Anointing Abide in You

“Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John 2:24-27 NKJV
Let Jesus Christ by means of the Spirit abide [grip, possess] in you, body, soul, and spirit to live eternal life. Eternal life is not quantity, but quality which means His life in full, the full riches of His life. That marvelous life is available to you now. That indwelling Spirit of God is the inner and invisible Teacher who reveals and discloses the mysteries of God in your midst. The anointing means the Spirit in you. What does it mean to let Jesus abide in you? It means complete dependence on Jesus always. Man was made that way from the beginning. But that dependent relationship was broken by the act of disobedience.
When the time came as promised in the Scripture, Christ Jesus has come and reconciled the fallen man to God by means of His death. That perfect dependent relationship may fully be restored through the faith in Jesus Christ.  A way to enter that fully dependent living on God has opened for those who believe in the Son Jesus Christ. In Christ, you can be a man whom God intended man to be before the foundation of the world. So you can live a life of worth and fulfillment if you continue to let the Spirit abide in you. That is the secret of life, the continual dependence on the Son Jesus Christ who opened the way to impart the life of resurrection. The continual dependence is possible after you deny yourself.
Denying means the death of old nature inherited from Adam. It doesn't mean the cessation of breath, physical death. But it means accepting the death of Jesus Christ as my death some two thousand years ago. Christianity starts with the cross of Jesus Christ and ends with it because without death there is no life. To rely on Him continually, it is necessary to come to the cross again and again. How can we rely on Him? Recognize the anointing you have received from the beginning within you and submit yourself to Him to teach and lead you to the truth of total reliance. He is the Teacher and Comforter and Counselor in your hearts.
