The Spirit Groans

"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:26-28 NKJV

Nature groans in hope for liberation by the coming of sons of God. We who saved by water and blood also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body (Romans 8:23b). Likewise the indwelling Spirit groans in helping our weaknesses when we do not know what we ought to pray. What an encouragement and comfort! No wonder is the Spirit called "Comforter." The Spirit searches the hearts and knows the mind of God, so He can intercede for us according to the will of God. Have you ever all of sudden uplifted or enlightened while you're contemplating the scriptures in the midst of ever mounting pressures or stresses? Though the situations remain unchanged at all, out of nowhere, you became calm, peaceful, and even joyful and thankful for that peculiar circumstances. That's the intercession of the Holy Spirit in your midst. 

Therefore, we can confidently and faithfully say in Jesus Christ our Lord that famous verse in the Scripture. "We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Notice this applies to the saints only who are the called according to His purpose. How can you be sure of the calling? If you're drawn by the Father and have peace, comfort, encouragement in Christ Jesus, you are called to do every good work of Him. So, no matter what happens in our lives, we can be sure that all things work together for good.
